Common questions about our technology services and approach
Are you DVBE-certified for participation on state contracts?
Yes. Canopy Digital Services is a certified Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) in California and is eligible for participation goals on state contracts.
Do you work with small businesses or only government contractors?
Both. For small businesses that includes websites, hosting, internal tools and systems that make daily operations smoother. Supporting local businesses is good for the community and good for Sacramento’s economy, and we’re intentional about contributing to that.
Do you subcontract work to others?
Occasionally, but not the way many firms do. We don’t resell anonymous offshore labor or or rotate through contractors. Our subcontractors are established entities and our independent contributors are local or people we’ve worked with personally. The people you meet are the people doing the work.
Where does AI fit into your process?
AI is a force multiplier, not a replacement for expertise. We use it to move faster, explore options, and surface details that matter. But AI doesn’t run the project, set the direction, or carry the responsibility. People do. If something isn’t good enough for a human to sign their name to, it doesn’t ship.
You’re a small team—can you actually take on a large or complex project?
We'll let you know. As a young company, we bring in additional talent when a project needs it: experienced engineers, designers, and specialists we trust and have worked with before.
We don’t pretend to be a 50-person agency, But we've built and led high-performing teams on government and private-sector projects, and we know how to assemble the right people for specific work. When we take on a project, it's because we know we can deliver it at the level of quality our name depends on.
